Somatic Psychotherapy
For Jennifer, psychotherapy is a collaborative process of listening, support, and guidance. It provides a safe space to explore challenges, gain new perspectives, and discover new choices and ways of being.
The aim of therapy is to help you reconnect with yourself. Through slowing down, increasing self-awareness, and reflecting on your experiences, therapy can support greater understanding, resilience, and wellbeing. Sometimes this involves simply being heard and supported. At other times, it may include practical tools, daily rituals, or therapeutic practices that can be easily integrated into everyday life. Often, small and consistent changes can lead to meaningful and lasting improvements over time.
Your First Appointment
Your initial consultation is 80 minutes, allowing sufficient time to explore what has brought you to therapy. This may include:
- A recent life event or challenge
- An ongoing personal issue
- Support during illness or a period of change
- A desire for greater wellbeing and self-understanding
Together, you will consider all aspects of your experience, including physical, emotional, mental, and energetic wellbeing, and develop a path forward that meets your individual needs.
Where appropriate, Jennifer may recommend complementary healthcare support and discuss the type and frequency of psychotherapy that may be beneficial within her scope of practice.
Ongoing Appointments
Many clients find that 3 to 6 sessions are helpful for addressing a specific issue. Others choose to continue therapy for longer to support deeper personal growth and lasting change.
Jennifer recommends either consecutive 50 minute weekly sessions or bi weekly 80 minute sessions for best outcomes.
Following the initial phase of therapy, clients may continue with a combination of:
- Individual Somatic Psychotherapy sessions
- Meditation and Movement Courses
Together, these approaches can support ongoing self-awareness, personal development, and overall wellbeing.
